Remember, Elton John Chose to Play Saskatoon, Not Regina...

Who says good TV doesn't come out of Canada. Not the Daily Show! They recently ran a story on self-professed Straight Prider Bill Whatcott, a nurse who lives in Regina and doesn't think much about gay people. It's all on Youtube for your viewing enjoyment (Thanks, Katie: three cheers!).

Learn more about Whatcott from his very own words! I found this story he wrote a few years ago in which he infamously jumped into a gay pride parade with a pretty nifty sign. It's quite the read. Apparently, supernatural forces kept him from being harmed during the event. He also mentions the Daily Show twice, not seeming to realize they are not a real news program.

Interestingly, here is a blog post that discusses Bill's reaction to his lampooning. And in case this comes as a surprise, he's being charged with hate crimes involving past incidents in Edmonton. Perhaps you haven't figured out by my tone, but I'm fairly certain that this guy has crossed a line or two.

I especially like that he held a heterosexual pride parade! If I was there I would have most definately stood on the sidewalk to watch!!

You know what shows pride in heterosexuality more than a parade? Going on a date with a woman. It's less controversial and much more satisfying.

You gotta love Regina...Maybe his overenthusastic hateful nature is overcompensating for something. Maybe he is a lonely, internally ashamed man...Guys like this think the whole world is one big dick measuring contest. Do I need to be anymore blunt?
Just as a cultural commentary--Regina is full of government types who feel they are more important than anyone else around them. This town probably breeds dudes like this. Not that I have anything against Regina --I actually like it here. You just have to avoid people like that.

What? Men date women?? I thought dating was an archaic art form lost to the depravity of the bar scene where people go to get drunk and screw - isn't there a country song to this effect? Oh no wait, I'm thinking of the internet....
